James W. “Windy” Hall, 90, son of Samuel and Maggie Schmickle Hall, was born March 31, 1917, at Maples. He died Oct. 1, 2007, at his home at Licking.

He married Dorothy Norris Dec 22, 1945. They had two children.

Mr. Hall served in the military during World War II as a rifleman and mechanic. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands for two and a half years before his honorable discharge in 1945.

He was a linesman and foreman for Intercounty Electric for 33 years.

After his retirement, he stayed busy on his farm with his cattle, hunting with his bird dogs and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Earl and John; and sisters, Mary, Irene and Lois.

Surviving are his wife; son, Herman LeRay Hall of Fulton; daughter, Rita Kaye Thurman of Fulton; sisters, Helen Firestine and Stella Kissiar; four grandchildren and six grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 5 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronald E. Baker and Chaplain Phillip Nava officiating.
