A 53-year-old Roby woman accused of aiding murder suspect Neldon Neal earlier this year will stand trial Feb. 19-20, a judge decided Tuesday.
Kathy J. McComas is one of four women charged with helping Neal after his wife, Judy, was fatally shot at their Highway 32 trailer. Neal, 61, fled into the woods, and a 62-day manhunt ensued before his arrest in May along the Gasconade River in Laclede County.
McComas, who is free on bond, is charged with hindering prosecution of Neal, who is held in a state prison to complete a sentence on an armed robbery charge. Another suspect, Mary E. Thomas, 38, also will stand trial Feb. 19-20.
Neal will appear before a jury in Pulaski County in September on the murder charge.
Two of the four women – Evelyn E. Landsdown, 33, and Erica Moore, 31 – entered a guilty plea and received sentences of four years in prison. A judge will review their case after they have served 120 days.
