Houston police were called to Bullseye in Houston early Monday morning after a clerk said a man tried to coax her into selling him a 12 pack of beer.
A clerk told officers said that a man came in after liquor sales are not allowed, about 2:15 a.m., attempted to slip a $20 bill to clerk – which was refused – but left on the counter. The man left with the beer.
The matter was referred to the Missouri Division of Liquor Control. Charges are pending against a 41-year-old Houston man.
In other matters, police:
-Are investigating vandalism to a vehicle owned by Travis J. Barker, 17, of 699 Oak Hill Drive. The vehicle was parked at the Big Red Building. The damage was estimated at $150.
-Investigated the theft of a battery from a vehicle owned by George A. Sholtz, 43, of Plato. The incident occurred between Nov. 19-21 at 713 W. Chestnut.
-Were called to Houston Do-it Center on South Sam Houston Blvd. after a man walked into the business Nov. 21, purchased about $1,700 in copper wire and charged it to a local construction company. It was later determined the purchase was not legitimate and that the firm had not authorized it. The investigation is continuing. The suspect is described in his mid-20s, 5-11 – 5-12, slim build and smelling of alcohol.
