National brokerage firm, A.G. Edwards & Sons, will open its newest location in Houston on Monday.
The office will be situated in newly constructed quarters on East Holder Drive. The company has 31 branches in Missouri.
“We’re looking forward to serving investors in Houston and the surrounding area with the kind of personal service A.G. Edwards is famous for,” said Susan Steckler, financial consultant and vice president – investments.
The Houston office has two financial consultants, Steckler and DeeDee Dunn.
Steckler has more than 26 years of experience in the financial industry. She is the daughter of the Carlos Elmore and the late Nelda Jeanne Elmore and is a 1970 graduate of Houston High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in Christian education from Ozark Christian College at Joplin. She sang with the music ministry of Christ in Youth from Tulsa and St. Louis from 1972-1980. In 1975, she moved to St. Louis, where she lived until she and her husband, Dick Steckler, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, moved to Rolla in 2004. She began her career in the financial industry in 1981, and joined A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in 1989.
Dunn has more than 20 years in the banking and securities industries. A native of St. Louis, she is married to Tom Dunn, a Houston veterinarian who is the son of Betty Dunn and the late Bob Dunn. Her husband is a 1977 graduate of HHS. The Dunns relocated to Houston with their two children several years ago. She had previously worked at A.G. Edwards, where she was employed in the early development of what is now know as Private Advisor and Select Advisor programs. Before rejoining, she was financial consultant with a local bank.
Also working in the office are Stacy Mueller of Bucyrus, registered financial associate; and Susan Warkentin of Houston, branch systems administrator.
Mueller began her career with A.G. Edwards in a clerical position in the municipal bond department and left 18 years later as vice president of the short term trading desk, where she typically traded about $150 – $200 million in bonds daily. Two years ago she and her husband, Rod, and son, Seth, bought a Bucyrus farm and relocated from the St. Louis area.
Warkentin, the daughter of the late Fran Vennink and Gerald Elmore, is a 1969 graduate of HHS. Since she and her husband, Jack, retired from farming in Oklahoma, established a successful real estate business and is active in the community. She has a degree in business/accounting and years of experience in banking, oil and gas industry and real estate.
Steckler said the office will help the firm offer expanded and improved services to clients and the community. Additional staff additions are set for the first quarter of 2008.
