The second defendant in a case involving significant damage at the Houston Middle School has entered a guilty plea.

Christopher Johnson, 20, of Houston, entered a guilty plea Dec. 5 to property damage. The imposition of his sentence was suspended in lieu of four years of probation. He must complete 100 hours of community service and pay restitution to the Houston School District, court records show. The damage was earlier estimated at $24,000.

Another conspirator in the case, Hannah M. Ford, 19, of Raymondville, also entered a guilty plea earlier and received the same sentence. A third person was referred to juvenile authorities.

Widespread damage occurred after vandals plugged several sinks and turned the water on. Chemical contents of a fire extinguisher were discharged on a gym floor. An upstairs water fountain was pulled from the wall. A janitor found the mess when arriving for work on the last day of school in May. Entry was gained with a tug to a door that wasn’t locked properly, police said.
