Alma Irene Hesse Sturgeon, 91, daughter of August Christian and Lenora Pryor Hesse, was born March 18, 1916. She died Dec. 18, 2007, at Licking Park Manor Nursing Home at Licking.
She married Thomas Granville Sturgeon Feb. 11, 1950.
Mrs. Sturgeon attended Licking Schools and St. Louis Washington University. She taught school, mostly at Licking, for 37 years.
She spent her entire life on a small farm at the edge of Licking where she was born. The Sturgeons enjoyed making large gardens and sharing with others.
Mrs. Sturgeon was baptized at an early age and attended the Licking Church of Christ as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ivan, Earl, Marvin, William, Vernon and Pryor; and two sisters, Imo and Gertrude.
Surviving are three nephews, August “Chris” Hesse of Fargo, N.D., Keith Hesse of Boulder, Colo., and Dean Hesse of Canton, Texas.
Services were Dec. 22 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Licking City Cemetery.
