James “Jim” Burris, 58, son of Louis Harry and Mildred Duty Burris, was born May 16, 1949, at Cape Girardeau. He died Dec. 12, 2007, at Benton.
He was a Houston resident for about 35 years and worked for Cabool Transport for 20 years. He was living at Oran and worked for Agri-Trans Trucking in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Burris served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.
Surviving are two sons, Carl Anderson of Summersville and James Burris Jr. of Marshfield; three daughters, Sheryl Scantlin of Hartshorn, Angela Bott of Scott City and Christy Bruton of Strafford; a sister, Mary Null of Scott City and 15 grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 16 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home Chapel at Oran with the Rev. Mary Null officiating. Burial with full military honors was at Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
