James “Jim” Thomas Garrett, 48, son of Robert and Doris Thomas Garrett, was born May 15, 1959, at Cabool. He died Dec. 8, 2007, at his home at Houston.
He grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated in 1977 from Ritenour Senior High School. He attended Rankin Technical Institute for Carpentry.
He married Kathey Alliston April 5, 1980, in St. Louis.
Mr. Garrett worked in construction and was self-employed for many years. He moved to Houston in 1991, continuing to operate his business, Garrett and Sons Construction.
He enjoyed outdoor activities and went hunting, fishing and camping and played golf. He especially enjoyed time spent with his sons’ Little League activities and often helped to improve conditions at Carter Field. The family spent time at the lake.
Mr. Garrett attended Souls Harbor Family Worship.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Shane and Gary of Houston; one daughter, Samantha of Houston; his mother of Pharr, Texas; two brothers, Joe Bob Garrett of St. Louis and Johnny Garrett of Victor, Mont; one sister, Janice Bolton of St. Louis; and one grandson.
Services were Dec. 11 at Souls Harbor Family Worship with the Rev. Cordie Wimberley and the Rev. Richard Harper officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
