Norman Henry Michel, 82, son of Charley Michel and Melva Edgmond Michel, was born March 24, 1925, at Hartshorn. He died Nov. 28, 2007, at Lincoln County Nursing Center and Rehabilitation at Troy.
He married Elene Beavers Feb. 25, 1949, at Salem, Ark. They were married more than 58 years and had one son.
Mr. Michel served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 22, 1943, to Dec. 4, 1945, and June 13, 1946, to May 6, 1947.
He worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring Jan 1, 1983. He went to work at Central Hardware in October 1983, retiring Jan. 1, 1993.
Mr. Michel was a member of the Valley Center Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elsie Green; and three brothers, Vernie Michel, Clarence Michel and Clinton Michel.
Surviving are his wife of the home at Troy; son, Gary Dewayne Michel of Troy; one brother, Harold Michel of Hartshorn; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 1 at the Valley Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Heiney officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Valley Center Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
