Verna Mae Stewart, 92, daughter of James Cliff Norris and Maggie Mariah Morton Norris, was born Oct. 8, 1915, at Eunice. She died Dec. 16, 2007, at Lincoln County Medical Center at Troy.

She married Alva Everett Stewart Dec. 28, 1933. They had two children and lived at Hartshorn until 1952, when they moved to St. Louis. When Mr. Stewart retired from McDonnell-Douglas, they returned to Summersville in 1970.

Mrs. Stewart loved to quilt and spend time with her family.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Summersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Sylvan, Cyril, Zolan and Lorin.

Surviving are two daughters, Helen Tucker of Des Peres and Maxine Fischer of Troy; three sisters, Pauline Odom of Summersville, Mildred Bennett of St. Charles and Ethel Atchison of St. Johns; six grandchildren and 10-great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 21 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery at Hartshorn.
