A Houston native was murdered last week when his wife shot him in his sleep, then turned the gun on herself, authorities said.
Richard McKee, a 1987 Houston graduate, was killed by his wife last Thursday inside their Fulton home. Lorie McKee was found in bed beside Richard with the murder weapon and the cordless telephone she apparently used to call 911.
McKee, a member of the Fulton Police Department since 1991, and Lorie, who worked as a receptionist at city hall, were married four years. Authorities said financial and marital issues could have been the motivating factor.
Officers were alerted to the scene following a 911 hang-up shortly after 8 a.m.
Richard McKee’s 12-year-old daughter, Morganne, was not home at the time of the shootings. The McKees shared custody rights of the girl.
