Lawrence J. “Larry” Engelhardt, 83, son of Christian and Philomina Springer Engelhardt, was born April 11, 1924, at Licking. He died Dec. 30, 2007, at his home at Festus.

Mr. Engelhardt was a retired glassmaker for PPG Industries and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Yorktown. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3777.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Mack Engelhardt of the home; three daughters, Rebecca Flynn and Michelle Engelhardt of Festus and Linda Clemens of Herculaneum; one sister, Edna McColgin of Houston; and three grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 4 at the National Cemetery Chapel at Jefferson Barracks under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home of Festus.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Memorial Hospice.
