Terri Fossett of Ava has been named program manager for the Family Nutrition Education Programs with University of Missouri Extension. She will work out of the Texas County Extension Office in Houston.
The position assists the FNEP coordinator in planning, developing and implementing the regional FNEP program. In addition, Fossett is a member of a team composed of the FNEP coordinator, Nutrition Program associates and assistants, regional faculty, support staff, regional director and state-wide administrations in all aspects of FNEP operations.
Fossett, who has been employed with the University of Missouri Extension for eight years, is a longtime resident of Douglas County and 1975 graduate of Ava High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Drury University in 2007.
Fossett and her husband, Sam, reside on the family farm in eastern Douglas
County.
“We are so excited to have Terri here in Texas County as the program manager of the Family Nutrition Education Program,” said Cammie Younger, Texas County program director.
Younger said Fossett’s position is responsible for managing the data and resources granted by USDA for nutrition education presented in the 16 counties of the South Central Region.”
“This program changes the lives of Missourians through better nutrition choices and increased physical activity, creating healthier lifestyles,” Younger said. “Research indicates for every one dollar invested in nutrition and health education, there is a $7 to $8 savings in healthcare costs.”
The South Central Region includes Texas and all surrounding counties, stretching from Ozark, Howell and Oregon counties along the Arkansas line to the central Missouri counties of Camden, Miller, Maries and Gasconade on the north.
