Ray H. Steelman, 88, eighth child of William Albert and Estella Perry Bryant Steelman, was born July 20, 1919, at Boyd Creek near Summersville. He died Dec. 22, 2007.
He married Dorothy Asplin. They had three children.
For more than 20 years, he worked in the maintenance department at Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis. For the last five years, he was in a nursing home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald; eight brothers, Lee, Earl, Tom, Burley, Clyde, Corb, Albert and an infant, Calvin; three sisters, Almeda Schwartz, Gladys Sykes and Lorene VanHorn; and a granddaughter.
Surviving are his daughters, Roberta Hauser of Pacific and Estle Large of O’Fallon; one brother, Carl Steelman of Mexico, Mo.; one sister, Goldie Johnson Alexander of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services are Dec. 27 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.
