Vera Lorraine Beasley Derrick, 71, daughter of Radius and Austa Scott Beasley, was born March 4, 1936, at Raymondville. She died Jan. 28, 2008, at Houston House Nursing Center.
She married Larry Harrison Derrick Jan. 7, 1958, in St. Louis. They had five children.
Mrs. Derrick enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzle books and old western movies. In earlier years, she played the guitar with her husband in church and loved dancing and fishing trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; one brother, Johnnie Beasley; and a sister, Melba Beasley.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Derrick, Ronnie Derrick, John Derrick and Larry Derrick; a daughter, Melinda McCartney; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 o’clock today (Thursday) at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Murray officiating. Burial is in the Mahan Cemetery.
