Charles “Charlie” E. Dorsey, 61, son of Chester and Nile Rowen Dorsey, was born Nov. 19, 1946, at St. Louis. He died Feb. 11, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He grew up in St. Louis and graduated in 1966 from Central High School.

After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. While in the service, he received five medals, one of which was a Purple Heart.

After his tour of duty, he attended Flow Valley College at Florissant, where he received an associate degree in criminal justice.

He married Cheryl Powers June 24, 1967, in St. Louis. They had three children.

He and his family moved to Raymondville in 1994. He worked for Con-Way Freight in Rolla.

Mr. Dorsey loved deer hunting, NASCAR, fishing, flea markets and cruises with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of the home at Raymondville; two sons, Scott Dorsey of Rogers, Ark., and Chuck Dorsey of Bonne Terre; one daughter, Debbie Dorsey of Raymondville; two sisters, Linda Jackson of St. Louis and Judy Eaves of Missouri; two brothers, Ralph Dorsey of DeSoto and Chester Dorsey of Ephrata, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 15 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. The body was cremated.
