Cynthia Iona Gaines, 91, daughter of Henry and Viola Craig, was born Dec. 12, 1916, at Bristow, Okla. She died Feb. 5, 2008, at Smyrna, Tenn.
She moved to Missouri at the age of 3 with her family and attended Ozark school near Log Cabin Park.
She married Claud Ray Gaines in 1937 at St. Louis. She lived most of her life at Licking, occasionally moving to St. Louis. She lived at Houston and worked in the cafeteria at Texas County Memorial Hospital for several years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Houston and visited the Houston Senior Center, where she enjoyed many friends. She moved to Smyrna, Tenn., in 1990, moving her membership to the First Smyrna Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gaines joined and became an active member of the Smyrna Senior Citizen Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; five sisters, eight brothers and three grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Carl Ray of Smyrna, Tenn., Barry Joe of St. Augustine, Fla., and Barbara Jean Williams of Houston, Texas; one brother, Archie, of the state of Washington; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 o’clock Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking with burial in the Boone Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is 6 to 8 o’clock Friday night at the Fox chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Smyrna Senior Citizen Center or Willing Workers Sunday School Class at Smyrna First United Methodist Church.
