Jackie “Jack” Darrell Hurt, 73, son of Daniel Wesley Hurt and Susie Marie Bryson Hurt, was born May 16, 1934, in Shannon County. He died Feb. 1, 2008, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He married Doris Jean Morton Feb. 19, 1955. They were married 52 years and had three children.
Mr. Hurt was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for 40 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, working in the timber and farming. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of the home; children, Vicky Lynn Medley of Mountain View and Larry Dean Hurt and Michelle Kay McKee of Summersville; sister, Betty Bilbrey of Gainesville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 4 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stacey Prewitt and the Rev. Robert Medley officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.
