Ruth Edgar Mooney, 84, daughter of Cecil Deason and Rena West Deason, was born Sept. 26, 1923, at Taft, Calif. She died Feb. 7, 2008, at Springfield.

She attended elementary school at McKettrick, Calif., and Sherrill in Missouri and graduated from Licking in 1941.

She married Wilford Edgar Oct. 16, 1941, at Salem. They had three sons. Mr. Edgar preceded her in death in 1995 after 54 years of marriage.

Mrs. Mooney was a secretary and bookkeeper, serving as Sherrill Township tax collector for two terms and at the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service in Houston. She was secretary to the superintendent and treasurer for the Licking School board for 12 years.

In retirement, she enjoyed several winters in Texas. Loving to travel, she went to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and many places in Canada and the U.S.

In 1997, she married Glen Mooney and moved to Ozark. He died in 2003

She was a long-time member of the Licking Church of Christ.

She was fond of quilting, making many treasures for family and friends. She was known for her beautiful flower garden.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Surviving are three sons, Russell of Ohio, Earl of Galena and John of Rolla; one brother, Wayne Deason of Bolivar; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 11 at the Licking Church of Christ with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
