Junior Ryan O’Neil led three players in double figures with 13 points as the Houston Tigers held off Seymour 54-49 on the road Tuesday night.
It was the fourth game in six days for the Tigers, who defeated Alton 58-51 Thursday night to snap a four-game losing streak. Houston lost to Salem 69-28 Friday and was defeated 73-40 Monday by state-ranked Willow Springs.
The Tigers, who are without leading scorer Michael Buckner (knee), conclude the regular season tonight at Mountain View-Liberty. Postseason play begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday when Houston and Liberty square off again in the district tournament at Cabool High School.
Senior Jonathan Page scored 12 points and Ty Scheets had 11 in the Tigers’ victory at Seymour. Houston led by 11 points entering the fourth quarter.
The sophomore duo of Jesse Setters and Tyler DeWitt combined for 28 points and six 3-pointers in Houston’s come-from-behind win at Alton. The Tigers trailed 13-7 after the first quarter.
DeWitt, who scored a team-high 15 points, and Setters hit three triples apiece.
Houston managed just nine first-half points in a lopsided loss to Salem. The Tigers, who trailed 44-9 at the half, were led by O’Neil’s nine points.
Setters and senior Chad Hutsell, who hit three triples, scored nine points apiece in Houston’s loss to Willow Springs. The Bears hit 11 3-pointers.
