A child identification and protection program is planned for Saturday at Summersville Elementary School. The Missouri Child Identification and Protection Program is an effort of Masons, a statewide organization with members in the Summersville area.
Those attending the event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., will receive digital photographs and fingerprints, vital child information with emergency contacts, a dental bite impression and two laminated I.D. cards. The photographs, fingerprints and child data are burned onto a mini-CD that is compatible with the national “Amber Alert” missing children network. The dental impression provides enough salva to provide a DNA sample that also can be used as scent source for trained canine search and recovery teams.
Parents are asked to gather several pertinent pieces of information about their child before the event, including: doctor, dentist, emergency contact name, address, phone numbers, distinguishing marks and scars, allergies, medications and parents’ work, cell and assorted telephone numbers. Height charts and scales are available at the event to better facilitate the most current details regarding those.
There is no charge by Freemasons for the services.
