Here’s encouraging news for Texas County taxpayers counting down to today’s deadline:

Both the IRS and the state of Missouri have granted residents of Texas and 34 other counties affected by last month’s floods an extra month to file their taxes. The new deadline isl May 19.

It doesn’t matter whether you were flooded or stayed dry.

Other eligible counties for the extension are: Bollinger, Butler, Callaway, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Gasconade, Cape Girardeau, Greene, Howard, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Laclede, Madison, Maries, McDonald, Newton, Oregon, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, St. Louis, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Washington, Wayne and Webster.
