A four-vehicle crash north of Houston on Sunday afternoon killed one, seriously injured two and sent six to hospitals with moderate injuries, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The patrol said a vehicle driven by Bobby J. Oller, 18, of Edgar Springs, was traveling southbound on U.S. 63 near Twin Bridges when his truck sideswiped a northbound trailer-truck operated by Jackie R. Rinne, 52, of Licking. Rinne’s big rig struck a car driven northbound by Judith A. Rinne, 53, of Licking. Her car slid into the path of a northbound van driven by Bobby J. Rogers, 42, of Licking.
The collisions sent rescue works to the site following the 5:15 p.m. crash, the patrol said.
Charles L. Gibson, 61, of Dade City, Fla., was declared dead at the scene by Texas County Coroner Thomas Whittaker. He was a passenger in the Oller vehicle.
The driver – Oller – was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital and later flown to Cox South in Springfield. Another passenger, Joshua J. Tobin, 19, of Olean, had moderate injuries when he was taken to TCMH and transferred to a Springfield hospital.
Judith Rinne had moderate injuries and was taken by private vehicle to a Rolla hospital.
Rogers had moderate injuries and was taken to TCMH. The most serious of the Rogers passengers was Jody R. Rogers, 42, who was taken to TCMH and flown to a Springfield hospital. Other injuries were: Bobby J. Rogers Jr., 15; Cody J. Rogers, 14; and Sarah R. Rogers, 12. All had moderate injuries and were taken to TCMH.
Tpr. Scott Nelson, Sgt. Jeff Kinder, Tpr. Marty Wiseman and a patrol commercial vehicle inspector were on the scene, as was a crash team called to reconstruct the assistant.
All of the vehicles – excluding the trailer-truck – were totaled, the officer said.
