Houston police investigated two cases involving illegal drugs this week.

Officers:

-Arrested James D. Wakenight, 27, of 205 W. Steffens, on Texas County and City of Houston warrants on March 27. The municipal warrant charged him with animal neglect with bond set at $55 cash. A county warrant charged him with possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana. Bond was set at $10,000 on the drug charge. He was not able to post bond.

-Charged N.B. Brown, 24, of Raymondville, with speeding, operating a motor vehicle while suspended, possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia on March 30. He was released after posting bond totaling $10,000.

In other matters, police:

-Charged Diana R. Sundblom, 50, of Bucyrus, with failure to yield the right-of-way on March 26. She struck a vehicle operated by Mildred L. Stalder, 74, of Bucyrus. The mishap occurred at North Industrial Drive and West Highway 17.

-Cited Mallory M. Fithen, 19, of 217 Mill St., with allowing a dog to run at-large on March 26.

-Investigated damage to a building on South Sam Houston Blvd. on March 25. Police said Bobbie J. Tripp, 74, was operating a vehicle that struck a structure housing State Farm Insurance. Damage was reported to an exterior and interior wall.

-Are investigating forgery related to a check belonging to Shirley B. Hafner of Licking. The $914 Social Security check was apparently taken last year from a mailbox and cashed by a thief.
