Diana Koenig, D.O., a board certified family practice physician, signed an employment contract with Texas County Memorial Hospital last week. She will begin seeing patients June 2 at the Summersville Community Clinic.
Koenig comes to TCMH from Fillmore, N.Y., where she’s lived with her husband since 2005. Koenig worked the previous four years for Ozarks Medical Center, seeing patients in clinics in Winona and Alton. She’s also practiced medicine in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Koenig is a friend of Dr. Joseph Bruce, the family practice physician seeing patients at the Summersville Community Clinic. Bruce began making plans to leave the clinic in late 2007, and he contacted Koenig about returning to the area to take over the Summersville medical practice.
With Koenig’s arrival at the Summersville Community Clinic, it will add another day of service on Mondays. Koenig will see patients from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Koenig is a graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. She completed her residency training at Clarion Hospital in Clarion, Penn., and Riverside Health System in Wichita, Kan. She’s a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Koenig is relocating to the Summersville area.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Koenig join our hospital medical staff,” said Wes Murray, chief executive officer at TCMH. “Dr. Koenig has strong ties in the southeast Texas and Shannon county area, so we believe she will be a welcome addition to the community.”
Murray noted that the recruiting of Koenig reflects the ongoing commitment of the hospital’s board of trustees and administration to continue to provide additional healthcare coverage for the Summersville community.
“It is our hope that the residents of Summersville and the surrounding area will continue to utilize the clinic and welcome Dr. Koenig to the community,” Murray said.
