A Houston woman is charged with providing alcohol to minors following an investigation by the Houston Police Department.

The inquiry began after an arson fire last month on Mill Street.

Officers charged Brenda L. Akins, 41, of 415 W. Mill St., Lot 1, with supplying alcohol to minors April 20. The investigation comes after a suspect in the blaze, Andrew L. O’Daniel, 18, of Elk Creek, was believed to have been drinking. Some juveniles also were involved.

In other matters, police:

-Investigated the sudden death May 11 of William V. Kincaid, 76, of 120 Ozark Terrace. A neighbor found him. The death was ruled of natural causes.

-Cited Joshua Holt, 16, of 8096 Mineral Drive, with following too closely following an accident May 8 after his vehicle struck a vehicle in the rear operated by Crystal L. Hollibaugh, 16. The mishap set off a chain reaction involving Edith J. Henderson and Kyle L. Adey, both of Houston.

-Charged Megan L. Neal, 24, of 722 Augusta Street, with peace disturbance on May 7 at 306 Broadway. Police said Neal became angry when her mother refused to give her $20. A cast iron candleholder and large candle were thrown across the room. Hanging baskets also were destroyed, along with some outside decorations.

-Were called to Bryan Street near the Houston Elementary School on May 9 after a man, Jerry D. Carter, 48, of 721 Dooley, sustained a heart attack. He was pronounced dead at TCMH.

-Cited Nichole A. Bowman, 19, of Eminence, with failing to stop at a posted stop sign on May 11.

-Heard from Bradley L. Hinkle, 30, of 1242 Hawthorn, who reported vandalism to a mailbox.

-Cited Chrystal J. James Kidwell, 19, of 636 Highway B, with allowing an animal to run at-large on May 6.

-Cited Stephen J. Lybyer, 48, of Cabool, with following too closely following an accident at First Street and U.S. 63. He struck a van driven by Geraldine Foster, 60, of Cabool.

-Arrested Diana M. Jackson, 24, of Licking, who was wanted on county warrants charging her with possession of a marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $15,000 on May 6. She posed bond.
