Lois Mae Plummer Lampkins, 86, eldest daughter of George Thomas Plummer and Nettie Armanda Lynch Plummer, was born Sept. 7, 1921, at Alley Spring. She died May 31, 2008, at St. John’s St. Francis Hospital at Mountain View.

She married Orval Sherman Lampkins Oct. 28, 1940. They had five children.

Mrs. Lampkins was a long-time member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Birch Tree.

Her favorite activities included worshiping the Lord and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing the banjo and listening to gospel music at Birch Tree Place, where she resided for the past several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; one sister, Etta “Toots” Stacy Keeling; and four granddaughters.

Surviving are her five children, Erma Roe of Mountain View, Annamay Gosnell of Timmonsville, S.C., David Lampkins of Linn Creek, Bonnie Yardley of Winona and Evelyn Chappell of Greenville, Tenn.; three sisters, Dorothy Stoops, Neva Crabtree and Jewell Percy; one brother, Paul Plummer; 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services were June 3 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial was in the Flat Rock Cemetery.
