Miss Texas County placed in the Top 10 Saturday among contestants entered in the Miss Missouri Pageant.
Katy Reed of Houston took home a $700 scholarship and a silver plate for her efforts at the Mexico, Mo., event.
Shari McCallister, an organizer of the annual local pageant, said it marks the first time a county contestant has placed so high. Reed competed in the talent, evening wear and swimsuit competitions on Saturday.
Reed also received a scholarship earlier in the week in recognition of her work with the Children’s Miracle Network._The Miss Missouri organization partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network and contestants raise money for CMN. The Miss America Pageant and CMN provides a memento.
