Years of collecting and saving numerous nonperishable food items came to a close this past week for Houston resident Jim Baker.
After the 84 year-old Baker was taken from his home for health reasons family and friends were left with shelves of unused nonperishable goods, which was estimated to be worth more than 500 dollars.
Fred Assland said friends and family began dispersing the goods amongst themselves but quickly realized they would not be able to take it all. The 577 leftover goods were loaded into a pickup truck and donated, in Baker’s name, to the Texas County Food Pantry in Houston.
