Virgie Mae Atchison, 88, daughter of Oscar Arthur Stewart and Bessie Ellen Day Stewart, was born May 19, 1920, at Hartshorn. She died June 17, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.
She married Glen Edward Atchison Feb. 3, 1940. They were married 38 years before his death July 20, 1978.
Mrs. Atchison taught two years at rural schools, one year at Hartshorn and a year at Low Wassie.
When World War II started, she went to be of service to her county, working in small arms manufacturing.
She worked at Wagoner Electric in St. Louis. After retirement, she moved to Houston.
She was a member of the Houston Assembly of God, where she was faithful to do anything she could.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, James, Paul, Elmer and Everett; and two sisters, Ethel Farrow and Velma Kirkman.
Surviving are two brothers, Ervin Stewart of Houston and Don Stewart of Hartshorn.
Services were June 20 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Meade officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.
