Floyd Curtis “Buzz” Pitts, 74, son of Bert Allen Pitts and Jessie Honeycutt Pitts, was born July 24, 1933, at Hartshorn. He died June 26, 2008, at his home at Summersville.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 in communications during the Korean War.

He married Louise Howell. They had four children and were later divorced.

Mr. Pitts was baptized in 1967 at the Valley Center Baptist Church and attended the Christian church in Summersville in his later years.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7222, serving as quartermaster and performing other duties and services.

He enjoyed coin collecting, bird watching, the VFW opry, especially the blue grass, spending time with his grandchildren and keeping up with their travels.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lyle “Bob” Pitts and Carl “Sonny” Pitts; and two children, James Curtis Pitts and Sherri Louise Pitts Norton.

Surviving are his children, Richard Dewayne Pitts of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Michele Pitts Bartleson of Wylie, Texas; one sister, Shelby Olene Duncan of Richmond, Wash.; one brother, Harold “Pete” Pitts of Mountain View; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are 3 o’clock Saturday at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating.
