Nova Lucille Bailey, 86, daughter of John H. Bailey and Emily Anna Ward Bailey, was born Nov. 6, 1921. She died June 23, 2008, at the Kabul Nursing Home at Cabool.
As a child, she suffered a head injury and on another occasion, a high fever and was diagnosed as mentally challenged. She lived at home with her parents and then her mother into her adult years. Over the years, she lived with her sisters, Hazel and Ethel; and became a resident of Kabul Nursing Home.
She could play the piano by ear. Someone could play a song, and she could sit down and play it. She would use key words, signs and motions to verbalize her speech.
Her niece, Emily Gay Durnell of Cabool, oversaw her care at the nursing home, visited her regularly and would pick up and take her home for special occasions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cecil, Roy, Marvin and an infant brother; six sisters, Ethel Spencer, Elsie Bingham, Alice Tow, Hazel Trevena, Ina Hammon and Ruby Bailey.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 11 o’clock Saturday at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel at Summersville with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating.
