Two computer stations are being installed at Missouri State University-West Plains’ extended campus in Houston to give students additional tools for writing and printing papers.
The stations should be in place by the time fall semester classes start on Aug. 25, university officials said. Although they will not have Internet access, they will be fitted with the latest Microsoft Office suite software, which includes word processing and spreadsheet programs, and they have printing capabilities, officials added.
“The addition of these computer workstations will significantly increase service to our students at the Houston facility,” said Dr. Craig A. Klein, dean of academic affairs at Missouri State-West Plains. “Students will now have the ongoing opportunity to both produce and print papers and assignments for the courses that they take there.”
“The schedule of courses at the Houston campus includes several classes that require weekly printed papers,” added Houston Campus Coordinator Elaine Campbell. “These computer stations will give students the opportunity to prepare and print their papers for these classes on site, should they need to do so.”
The stations, which will be at the front of the Houston MSU quarters on North U.S. 63, will be available during regular office hours, from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 4-6 p.m. Thursdays and when classes are in session.
