Raymond Lee Rauscher Sr., 86, son of George and Mary Jecks Rauscher, was born June 27, 1922, at Ellis Prairie. He died July 19, 2008, at Ash Grove Health Care Facility.

Mr. Rauscher entered the service Jan. 1, 1943, and was assigned to the 8th Army Air Force, serving three years in Europe. He re-enlisted for one year in the 10th Air Force and was assigned to Johnson Field in Japan. He was honorably discharged Feb. 19, 1947, as a sergeant at Fort Sheridan, Ill.

He married Deloris Hadley April 30, 1948. They had four children.

Mr. Rauscher was a brick mason and built many structures in surrounding communities. He especially liked to work with stone.

He was a hunter and fisherman, always ready for the big deer hunt and bagged several deer. Not many bass eluded his lures. He was an expert squirrel and quail hunter.

He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized in 1948. In recent years, he rededicated his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ellis Rauscher; and two sisters, Doris Mitchell and Ruth Warner.

Surviving are his wife; children, Lois Nemyer and Raymond Lee Rauscher Jr. of Ellis Prairie and twins Cara Seeling of O’Fallon and Carol Grisham of Ash Grove; one brother, Bob Rauscher of Houston; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were July 22 at the Ellis Prairie Baptist Church with the Rev. Hubert Darter officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the Ellis Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
