Doris Elaine Thomas, 67, daughter of Gale and Gladys Peterson Williams, was born Oct. 3, 1940, at Sioux City, Iowa. She died Aug. 11, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She graduated in 1958 from Jefferson High in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She married Arthur Thomas Dec. 5, 1958, in Santa Anna, Calif. They had three children. The family lived in different areas of Missouri and California before settling in 1991 at Elk Creek.

She enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She had an extensive doll collection

She attended the Elk Creek Baptist Church for several months prior to her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Surviving are her husband of the home; three children, Gale Thomas and Daniel Thomas of Chicago, Ill., and Kimberly Blair of Elk Creek; two sisters, Sharon Volner and Gail Smith; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are 10:30 today (Thursday) at the Elk Creek Baptist Church with Josh Miller officiating. Burial is in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
