Services for a county native murdered last week in Louisiana, Mo., were Friday at Licking.

Authorities said Richard L. “Skip” Marshall, 42, was killed with a blunt instrument Sept. 15 during a fight with an acquaintance. Marshall was taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, where he died that evening.

Thirty-six-year-old Tommy L. Harrison, who turned himself into police late Monday, is charged with second-degree murder._He is held at the Pike County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond. A court date had not been set.

Witnesses told police Marshall and Harrison, who was reportedly staying with the daughter of Marshall’s girlfriend, were fighting in an alley.

Missouri Department of Corrections records show Harrison served a seven-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance. He was released last Jan. 27, but violated terms of his parole._

A conviction for second-degree murder carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars with the possibility of parole.
