Cable systems in Houston, Licking, Evening Shade and Raymondville are under new ownership in a transaction completed at month’s end.
Cable America Missouri LLC, which has been in the business for more than 30 years, purchased the systems. It currently offers service to residents of Fort Leonard Wood, St. Robert, Waynesville, Dixon, Doolittle, Richland, Newburg, Rolla, Republic and Clever, said Robert L. Davis, who was among principals in the systems.
The company eventually will begin a major upgrade of the system that will allow customers to have digital video service, high speed Internet, local and long distance telephone service and high definition television.
This month, customers will continue to pay their bills using coupons that have been provided. Beginning in October, customers will receive an itemized invoice that they mail in with their payment, pay with a credit card or pay online. It will keep an office in Houston.
The Houston Cable system was constructed in 1961 by the late T.E. Presley and Davis’ father, Lane Davis, and it received a major upgrade in 1982. Over the years, several improvements were made, and Cable America says it is excited as it launches a new era of services.
