Lonnie Ray McCallister, 62, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his home in Houston.

He was born July 17, 1946, in Summersville, son of Lou James and Mildred Faye Craig McCallister. He and Katheryn Leann Begley were married May 15, 1965.

He was a mechanic for Romines Motor Company for more than 38 years and known for his ability to fix any car. He loved fishing and playing basketball with his boys. In recent years, he enjoyed attending auctions.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Donald McCallister of Houston, Lonnie Dean McCallister of Elk Creek and Ronnie Lance McCallister of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Carol Sherrill of Licking and Juanita Fisher of Theodosia; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Lee McCallister; and an infant sister, Shirley Jean McCallister.

Services were Friday, Oct. 10, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Delbert Gayer officiating. Burial was in Oak Dale Cemetery.
