Margie Lee (Brown) McCay, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008.

She was born April 10, 1926, in Walnut Shade, daughter of Arlee and Ethel Patrick Brown. She and Carl McCay of Salem were married 43 years.

Beginning at age 16, she taught in four different states – Missouri, Kansas, California and Alaska – for a total of 66 years. She retired in 1990 but continued to substitute teach until 2006.

She was a Christian and member of Victor Baptist Church in Anutt.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth Jump of Branson; a daughter, Peggy VanKirk of Licking; two brothers, Dean Brown of Cincinnati and Adrian Brown of Chestnut Ridge; a sister, Vivian Miles of Branson; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Jump; two brothers, Norman Brown and Lowell (Tuffy Brown); two sisters, Vera Jean Brown and Imogene Brown Ebert; and one grandson.

Services were Oct. 3 at Victor Baptist Church in Anutt, with Bro. Bobby Mathis officiating. Burial was in Anutt Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
