Edwin Leonard Scearce was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Texas County to Edwin and Maud (Crawford) Scearce. Leonard departed this life on Oct. 29, 2008, making him 84 years, 1 month and 21 days old.
Leonard grew up on the family farm in the Bado community in Texas County. He joined the Navy in June of 1943 and was honorably discharged in April of 1946.
Leonard resided in Jal, New Mexico, after serving in the military. This is where he met Cleo Albertson, and they later married on April 27, 1948. This is also when Leonard accepted the Lord into his life.
The couple moved and made their home in Texas County on the family farm in 1953. To this union two children were born, Gaye Lynn and Steve Allen.
Leonard worked as an electrician for many years and for various contractors and himself. Though he didn’t like to brag he was a master craftsman at woodworking.
Leonard was a longtime member of the Bado community church where he was a friend to all who knew him.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Cleo, of the family home; one daughter, Gaye Brockelbank, and husband, Mike, of Cabool; one son, Steve, and wife, Dianne, of Mountain Grove; grandchildren Shawn, Adam, Dara, Kenny, and Michael; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Michelowski of Virginia and Bonnie Nemerofsky of South Carolina; and a host of many other relatives.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Bradley Scearce.
Leonard will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever. We know Leonard has made his eternal home in heaven with his Lord and Savior.
