A new diner will open in mid-December in downtown Houston.
The Dixon Diner will operate out of the former Donut Shop on Grand Avenue. It is owned and operated by Perry and Delinda Dixon, who operated the Dixon Lunch Wagon to provide concessions for Rick Dixon Auctions the past three years.
The Dixons said they will serve breakfast and lunch, which will feature a fixens bar with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños and other items to accompany most menu items. The diner will also have specialty desserts and birthday cakes for order or pick-up. They plan to deliver to area businesses beginning in January.
Dixon Diner will book birthday parties, reunions and business meetings during and after business hours.
“As long as I can remember, there has been an eating here,” said Perry Dixon, a lifelong Houston resident. During his high school years, before off-campus lunch was prohibited, the location was his daily eating spot.
The Dixon said they hope to create a place for students to come after school. They will cater to kids by having special events next spring, including karaoke night and Guitar Hero tournaments.
