Texas County Farm Bureau was among five county chapters in the state to receive the “Award of Excellence” at the recent Missouri Farm Bureau convention.

Don Luerssen, president of the Texas County Farm Bureau board, accepted the award from Charles Kruse, president of the statewide organization.

The honor includes a check and invitation to attend the American Farm Bureau Convention in January in San Antonio. Representatives of the county board plan to attend and explain their successful ag-expo program so that other counties can incorporate it into their activities.

Luerssen also accepted a “Five Gold Star Award,” which represents achievements in legislative, membership, promotion and education, marketing/commodities and quota programs.

At the meeting, grassroots involvement and policy goals for 2009 were determined by more than 500 voting delegates.

Attending from the county were delegates Luerssen, Gerald Campbell, Andy Sodano, Gus Adams and Primrose Casey.
