A Houston man is the latest to toss his name into the ring for a three-year term on the Houston board of education. The election is in April.
He is John Impey, who has opposed any efforts to demolition the former high school on the school’s campus to make way for a new building. Impey said he is encouraging others opposed to the plan to join him in filing.
Two others filed earlier – incumbent Steve Pounds and Darren Ice. The other incumbent is Kathy Hutcheson.
Three persons have filed for a trio of four-year positions on the Texas County Health Department board. They are: C.J. Smith, Houston; Ron Smith, Licking; and Kirby Holmes, Cabool. The incumbents are Smith, Stone and William Bridges.
No filings are reported for county hospital board. The five-year term was held by Larry Southern before he resigned Dec. 31. Mark Hampton of Summersville was appointed to complete Southern’s term that expires in April.
The filing deadline is Jan. 20.
