Houston police say a Cabool man will likely be charged in an attempted theft early Friday at a local business.
Officer David Kidwell was dispatched to Orscheln Farm and Home on South Sam Houston Blvd. after an alarm was received from a merchandise area that is surrounded by a metal fence. Once there, Kidwell found the wire cut, a pair of bolt cutters and a car with no one around. Kidwell said the thief was trying to gain access to two power washer units.
A suspect, 26, was questioned later by police and admitted his involvement in the crime. No name has been released pending charged by the county prosecutor.
In other matters, police:
-Arrested Dawn M. Sikes, 30, of 16464 Forrest Drive, on a warrant charging her with peace disturbance. She posted a $200 bond on Jan. 6.
Sikes was a victim in an unrelated peace disturbance at a business when the arrest was made, according to a report. In that case, Felecia D. Gale, 22, 8905 Highway E, was cited with disturbance of the public peace.
-Cited Dale Walkinshaw, 62, of 919 Thomasville Road, with allowing his dog to run at-large on Jan. 5. The charge came after complaints about the dog’s behavior. The animal was later shot with a tranquilizer gun after the owner and others were unable to catch it, according to a report.
-Charged Richard A. Weatherspoon Jr., 21, of 402 N. Grand Ave., Apt. 2, with following too closely, resulting in an accident Jan. 8 near Walnut Street and Grand Avenue. Police said Weatherspoon’s vehicle pulled to a stop sign behind a vehicle operated by Dawn A. Clayton, 62, of Vienna. His vehicle rolled forward, striking Clayton’s in the rear. Weatherspoon told police his foot hit the clutch, causing it to roll.
-Heard from Melissa S. French, 27, of 777 W. Highway 17, Apt. 20, that someone had taken two duffel bags from a parking mini-van on Dec. 29. Missing were some prescription medications in one of the bags.
