A district that works to reduce trash going to landfills received about $84,875 for use in seven counties in south central Missouri, including Texas.
The allocation in the state’s first three months of its fiscal year enabled the region to pay for operational costs, administration of activities related to implementing its waste reduction plan and grants to cities and counties, said the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
The state’s 20 solid waste management districts were organized to encourage regional cooperation and to help ensure proper solid waste management through waste reduction and recycling activities.
