Marvin “Marv” B. Moore, 95, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln, Neb.
He was born Oct. 21, 1913, in rural Texas County, son of John Fulton and Matilda Burch Moore. He and Lena Rosselli were married Oct. 13, 1946. She died in 1999.
He attended school at White Rock. In the late 1930s, Marvin helped drive a family from Houston to California, where he stayed and made his home. He worked as a laborer at the movie studios before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
After he was discharged, he returned to California, where he resumed work at the studios. He became an electrician for Columbia Pictures Ranch and retired in 1976.
He loved to square dance, particularly to the calling of their son, John. He enjoyed fishing and hunting turkey and pheasant. He enjoyed many outdoor trips with his sons and nephews, the last a trout fishing trip to Wyoming with his sons in 2005.
He accepted Christ as his Savior on Aug. 14, 2001, and was baptized at the Douglas Ford on the Little Piney behind his childhood home by the Rev. Joe Combs with Ada Combs singing on the bank. He attended Oak Hill Church.
Since June 2005, he made his home between his sons in Nebraska, until a fall last October necessitated additional care.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; five brothers, James, Hurley, Ed, Boone, Leslie; a sister, Avalene Smith Johnston; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons, John Moore of Hickman, Neb., and Clint Moore of Lincoln, Neb.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday, March 9, at Oak Hill Christian Church with Don Crockett officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
