The Math Educators of South Central Missouri (MESCM) will hold its annual business meeting/dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Chen’s Garden in West Plains.
MESCM is a professional organization dedicated to promoting mathematics and mathematics education in this area. It conducts various math contests throughout the year for area students and a fall showcase for area teachers and parents. The group also sponsors an annual scholarship for a Missouri State University-West Plains student who is majoring in mathematics or education and who graduated from a high school in south central Missouri.
MESCM has members from many of the surrounding rural schools and several of the surrounding school districts, including Mountain Grove and Houston.
All MESCM members and anyone else interested in this organization are welcome to attend the business meeting, which begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and a special guest speaker.
MESCM will be discussing its 2009 Fall Showcase, math contests for the 2009-’10 school year and possible changes to its annual scholarship. Additionally, the group will be electing officers for the upcoming year and discussing and voting on some amendments to the constitution.
Those wanting to attend the business meeting should RSVP Sara Jensen, 7169 Douglas Road, Houston, Mo., 65483. The cost of the meal is around $8, and MESCM annual dues are $5.
