Norma Jean Wolfe, 82, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Licking Park Manor following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Prescott, daughter of Marion Echles and Inez Myrtle Hayes Watson. She and William “Bill” Henry Piper were married April 30, 1947. She later married David Sager Wolfe on Feb. 12, 1960, in Arkansas City, Kan.

She owned and operated beauty shops in both Augusta, Kan., and Arkansas City, Kan. She worked 10 years for Perma, Texas, while her husband, David, was a pipefitter.

Upon retiring, she and David moved back to Licking, where she was co-owner of Sew-it Seams Fabric Store. In later years, she toured the United States alongside her husband in their motor home.

She was a devout homemaker and enjoyed baking, cooking, cleaning and canning. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Life Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Bill Prier on March 2, 1956; a sister, Virginia Prier; and a son, Lawrence “Larry” Elvin Wolfe.

Survivors include her husband, David; two sons, Danny Wolfe of Cabot, Ark., and Robert Wolfe of Smithville; two brothers, Pershing Watson and Clarence Watson of Licking; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two nieces; five great nephews; and two great-great nieces.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at New Life Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Boone Creek Cemetery.
