The Texas County prosecutor’s office provides two services that residents may not know.
Its bad check division collects funds on any bad check passed in the county. It collects the face value of the check plus a victim’s fee of $25. There is no charge to victims. In February, it collected total restitution totaling $14,561.
It also has a child support division, which includes paternity testing, establishing orders of support, registration of out-of-state orders, as well as enforcement and collection of child support payments.
