A man with Texas County ties was arrested this week and charged in the 2002 homicide of a Montana man.
Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson said Richard P. Edwards was stopped for speeding this week in Daingerfield, Texas, and charged with murder in a Stillwater County, Mont., case.
Watson said Edwards, who was a farmhand of the victim, lived near Montauk at the Dent County line following the homicide. Montana authorities were in the county working on the case “a few years ago,” according to Watson, and returned this year for another week of investigation.
Watson said the Licking Police Department and the drug and crime control unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the local investigation.
